Please note: due to the COVID-19 the excursion has been cancelled. Further information regarding the alternative will be provided via e-mail and shared on Moodle as soon as possible. The second info session scheduled for March 27, 2020 will not take place!

Field trip

Inhalt/e

The Short Time Study Abroad in SEE/CEE is a two weeks study trip to a country in Eastern Europe within the Master’s Program in International Management. In the summer term 2020 the Short Time Study Abroad will take place in Croatia and a second country in the SEE/CEE region from April 20 until May 1. Students are expected to visit lectures at local universities. Company visits, presentations by executives and visits to cultural institutions are another essential part of the study trip. Only master students of International Management are allowed to join the excursion.

Getting an impression of different cultural aspects in the SEE/CEE region in an academic and commercial context.

Prüfungsinformationen

Im Fall von online durchgeführten Prüfungen sind die Standards zu beachten, die die technischen Geräte der Studierenden erfüllen müssen, um an diesen Prüfungen teilnehmen zu können.

Geänderte Prüfungsinformationen (COVID-19 Ausnahmeregelung)

  1. In teams of two (or max. 3) students, you should write a report (approx. 10 pages per person excl. table of contents, list of tables/figures/references) on a topic that relates to international trade/global economic development/ country studies/ or trade agreements/conflicts. You can also write your report individually (15 pages excl. table of contents, list of tables/figures/references)
    Please note: Topic suggestions have been provided // Own suggestions are welcome, too!
  2. Please prepare a voice-over PowerPoint presentation (approx. 15 min. in total) that captures your topic and outlines the main aspects of your report. 
  3. Please prepare a reflection paper (1-2 pages) based on the current COVID-19 pandemic. Possible questions you may think of: 
    • How does this crisis affect your home country? 
    • How do politicians deal with the crisis in your country? 
    • What do you think of the measures taken by the politicians? 
    • How does this crisis affect society? 
    • What about the economic consequences? What does such a crisis mean for global trade and world economy?

Submission deadline for the report, the voice-over presentation and the reflection paper: September 15, 2020. Please upload your assignments on Moodle!

Grading scheme: 

  • Report: 50%
  • Voice-over presentation: 30%
  • Reflection paper: 20%

Prüfungsinhalt/e

In the short presentations you have to give information about the historical and economic background of specific regions/countries/cities.

The written group assignment consists of analyzing a company that we visit during the excursion with Porter's 5 forces and a SWOT analysis.

In the reflection paper you have to write about your leanings of the excursion.

Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe

Entire analysis of Porter's 5 forces and the SWOT analysis, entire historical and economic draft of specific regions/countries/cities, entire draft of your learnings, attendence of all lectures and company visits.
