Students’ conceptions of plants is still an understudied area in biology education. Mostly, students’ understanding of plants is investigated in conjunction with students’ understanding of livingthings using a very small number of different plants (four to six). This paper presents the results of an interview study with elementary and middle school students using 20 different plant species.
