Vortrag: Self-organizing synchronization: From metronomes to robot swarms
Stammdaten
Titel: | Self-organizing synchronization: From metronomes to robot swarms |
Beschreibung: | The progressing connectivity of embedded devices poses new challenges to the design and operation of network algorithms and protocols. In particular, the increased system dynamics requires adaptability, distributed operation, and autoconfiguration. Raising the level of self-organization is one approach to meet these challenges, i.e. local interactions between individual entities yield an intended overall system behavior. This talk focuses on a specific aspect of self-organization in networked systems, namely on self-organized synchronization, as required for e.g. medium access, scheduling of sleep phases, or collaborative sensing. Three major issues will be addressed: How to model self-organizing synchronization phenomena. How to transfer these models to wireless systems. How to reach joint synchronization and swarming. |
