Title: 2018, The Year of Cultural Heritage
Description:

From 9 to 12 October 2017 the first Faro Convention workshop research-action took place in Fontecchio (Aquila) coordinated by Hakan Demir, Council of Europe Culture and Cultural Heritage Division. The work sessions focused on revitalization of cultural heritage after a disaster due to various types of factors (economic, social, natural, political); and how local communities can play a central role in this process. Based on Faro Convention’s principles, the workshop aimed at developing partnerships among universities, civil society and research centers in order to study urban and rural territories, heritage communities (local actors, museums, NGOs, associations etc.) and European heritage.

The three main topics under discussion were: heritage in a changing society; heritage as eco-system for local development; and cultural heritage accessibility. The final podium discussion had the focus on the activities for 2018 in the field of Cultural Heritage.
