Exclusion of Young refugees in Austria as 'extreme Right-wing social ...

For young asylum seekers the opportunities to work and become trained were already limited during thelegislation period of the moderate government (up to December 2017). Since the formation of the new government, the new coalition of the neo-conservative „Volkspartei“ ÖVP and the extreme right wing party FPÖ, hinders and discourage young people in their efforts to integrate into society even more. This especially applies to the social-political support system. 1) The government will replace the legal aid of refugees offered by NGOs by a governmental service. 2) The few opportunities for refugees to work were abolished. 3) Educational offers for asylum seekers older than 15 are no longer financed. 4) There is an ongoing discussion on the prohibition to live outside of asylum camps during the recognition process. 

Thereby social work either acts in more and more restricted manners – or is deprofessionalised and replaced by administration. From a theoretical perspective this kind of policy can be understood as “organized disintegration” (Vicki Täubig). Politics hinders voluntarily integration of young asylum seekers – and, in the same time, makes political capital out of accusation that these group of persons are not enough integrated into society.
