The central aim is to identify how a Social Innovation (SI) ecosystem can be developed in a peripheral region. Therefore we empirically investigate what conditions and services a social innovation ecosystem should contain to foster and support SIs. Furthermore, we answer the question if a new social innovation ecosystem should be developed in parallel or whether the often existing regional entrepreneurial ecosystem should be extended to a social innovation ecosystem.
