Title: The Austrian Ecologisation of Schools Network(ECOLOG): Participation for transformative education
Description:

ECOLOG is based upon a participatory school development approach: Schools analyse the ecological, technical, social and economical conditions of their environment and define objectives, targets and concrete activities and quality criteria, to be implemented, reflected and evaluated. Teachers, students as well as other stakeholders of a school should be involved in a participatory way. ECOLOG is a networked support system with the aim of promoting Education for stainable Development in Austrian Schools. All in all, over 500 schools with about 100.000 students are currently part the network. Overall coordination and research is ensured by the Institute of Instructional and School Development at the University of Klagenfurt in partnership with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education. In 2017 ECOLOG has been selected within the framework of the OECD project IPP (Innovative Pedagogies for Powerful Learning – Networks) among 25 projects worldwide for innovative approaches in teaching, learning and education. In the presentation current research on success factors and challenges for development and learning within ECOLOG will be presented.
