InAustria, multidisciplinary cancer meetings (MDTs or tumour boards) areconsidered the gold standard in cancer treatment due to their high financial,human, and time resources. Although much information is available onmultidisciplinary teamwork in health care, evidence on its quality in cancercare is still missing. The study analysed team culture and communication andtheir relationship with the perceived value of tumour boards among health careprofessionals and allowed conclusions to be drawn about the effectiveness oftumour boards in Austria. Results of a self-assessment tool developed fortumour boards, focusing on team culture and communication, are reported.
