Title: “OER Schreiben”: A Digital Platform for Open Educational Resources on Writing
Description:

A worldwide call for Open Access policies (Sporer & Jenert, 2008; UNESCO, 2012) combined with an overall increasing interest in Open Educational Resources (OERs) (Kehrer & Thillosen, 2021) has led to a large amount of miscellaneous OERs in the field of writing didactics. Today, a myriad of isolated analogue (e.g. handouts, scripts, presentations, etc.) and digital materials (e.g. massive open online courses) as well as several kinds of tools (e.g. digital workspaces, e-learning-platforms, websites, etc.) and writing technologies are available (Sporer et al., 2019). For the most part, these materials and innovative technologies are difficult to find in the everyday practice of writing counseling and writing instruction. Collecting, systematizing, storing, and providing access to existing OERs is a meaningful and relevant undertaking. Therefore, we designed a digital teaching and learning platform which enables individuals to easily find and use these resources while also allowing them to share their own materials. For the backup of the OER, we cooperated with the competence-based repository “Graph-based Environment for Competency and Knowledge-Item Organization” (GECKO) developed by the Department of Informatics Didactics of the University of Klagenfurt to design Personalized Open Online Courses (POOCs). For said repository we developed a competence grid with twelve competencies regarding writing, including a research competence, a reading competence, a methodological competence, and a revision competence. Our presentation is twofold: The poster provides insight into our working process, while the demo focuses on the competence grid as well as the platform “OER Schreiben”, its functions, and possible further developments.
