Titel: Does Action Research change the Biography of Teachers?
Beschreibung: In Austria teachers who attended an inservice course including action research processes often state that their beliefs changed enormously as a result of investigating and reflecting upon their work. In discussions you get to know that they look apon their participation in action research as being crucial for their personal development. It is therefore interesting to find whether (how many) teachers share this opinion and how action research processes influenced their future life and their biographies. Based on these considerations, the following research questions arose: Does action research change the biography of teachers? Can action research processes create critical incidents in teachers' lives? The main idea is to collect criteria along which critical incidents can be identified. Using a questionnaire and narrative interviews, the task is then to find out how dealing with action research influences the further development of the persons. This is not a presentation of results, but the introduction of a research project, which is going to start. The author wants to discuss the possibilities of identifying critical incidents and whether action research contain critical incidents and change theachers' professional lives. The statements of the participants could give valuable advice for the realization of the research.
