Title: Entrepreneurial founder teams and new venture performance
Description: In the last years public interest in entrepreneurial teams is increasing in the context of venture performance. It is proposed that entrepreneurial teams are especially qualified to contribute to economic benefit. Entrepreneurial teams are attributed with several performance advantages. In an economic world, which is characterized by rising complexity and uncertainty, it is expected that entrepreneurial teams can handle these circumstances in a better way than solo entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial teams dispose higher economic, cultural and social capital, which correlates positive with new venture performance (Frank et al., 1999; Lechler und Gemünden, 2003; Ucbasaran et al., 2003; Cooper und Bruno, 1977). However, despite of this explicit expressed interest on the team phenomenon, the entrepreneurial teams received relatively small attention in entrepreneurship research. Empirical studies that so far are presented in the entrepreneurial team literature in context with new venture performance are small (Chowdhury, 2005). The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between characteristics of the founder team, team processes and new venture performance.
