Furthermore, the book tells the stories of the people of South Tyrol, their economies, cultural creations and lifestyles, their misunderstandings, and achievements in reconciliation right up to the present day. South Tyrol's autonomy is discussed in terms of its potential but also its limits for the pacification of minority areas. In a concluding chapter, the book discusses the extent to which South Tyrol could serve as a laboratory for overcoming the challenges of our time - for dealing with multilingualism, for testing a citizen-centred democracy in times of democratic crisis and for an inclusive and diversity-affirming migration society. |
