The Austrian ECOLOG-schools programme: ...

This paper describes networking foreducation for sustainable development within the Austrian ECOLOG-schools network.It discusses theoretical concepts of Education for Sustainable Development and schooldevelopment from an Austrian perspective, as well as networks in education ingeneral and the organisation of the ECOLOG-network in particular. Furthermore,the international ENSI (Environment and School Initiatives) network isdescribed as an influential stimulus for the development of ECOLOG. Based uponthese foundations, the concept and results of evaluation studies ofECOLOG-schools are described and reflected. The impact of ECOLOG on thedevelopments in Environmental Education/Education for Sustainable Development (EE/ESD)in Austria are described and reflected. The paper concludes with a summary ofthe evaluation process and with an outlook for the future development of thenetwork.
