Title: Modeling Interference in Wireless Networks
Subtitle: Extended Abstract
Abstract: In many simulations a receiver is considered not to be interfered by other senders if they are placed all further away than a given threshold distance dt. This corresponds to a simple circle model, i.e. a circle around a receiver of radius dt is void of other senders. This common simplification disregards the fact that the combined interference power of several senders outside the threshold distance will still hinder reception. In this paper we present the theory of a circle model generalized to w circles that is able to consider further away interferers and thus provide more accurate results. Comparisons of our theoretic findings to simulative results confirm the soundness of the new model.
