Title: | Being a woman - a disadvantage for new venture growth? |
Subtitle: | Volltext auf CD-Rom |
Abstract: | This paper examines determinants that influence the growth of new ventures founded by women and men. According to results of gender studies it can be assumed that next to economic variables such as characteristics of the firm and human capital of the founder also the personal situation is relevant to explain gender differences concerning the growth of new firms. To test the influence of the personal situation following gender sensitive variables have been included in the study: marital status, children and the motive compatibility of career and family. We generate two separate growth models for each sex to observe the effects of the variables for women and men. Within these models in addition to gender sensitive variables also other variables which are frequently used to explain new venture growth such as year, industry, education and experience of the founder person are integrated |
