UNEP 2016-2018 - Beteiligung am Internationalen Resource Panel (IRP)

Das UNEP Panel for Sustainable Resource Use wurde am 9. November 2007 gegründet. Das Institut für Soziale Ökologie ist bereits seit der Vorphase an dieser Konstitution beteiligt, und mit Prof. Marina Fischer-Kowalski als österreichische Expertin im UNEP Resource Panel vertreten. 2011 wurde der von Marina Fischer-Kowalski und Mark Swilling erstautorierte Report “Decoupling natural resource use and environmental impacts from economic growth” veröffentlicht. In den folgenden Jahren wurden zwei weitere Publikationen unter der Leitung von Marina Fischer-Kowalski erarbeitet: „International Trade in Resources: A biophysical assessment“ wurde im Oktober 2015 veröffentlicht, und der Report „Global Material Flows and Resource Productivity“ im Sommer 2016.

In den Jahren 2016 bis 2018 bearbeitet das Projekt folgende Schwerpunkte:

  • Weiterentwicklung der UNEP MFA database
  • Integration der MFA Daten in einen Periodic Report des IRP
  • Öffentliche Präsentationen des Trade Report, der global MFA database und des Assessment Reports on Global Material Flows and Resource Productivity

The UNEP Panel on the Sustainable Resource Use (International Resource Panel, IRP) was launched in November 2007. Since the beginning, Prof. Marina Fischer-Kowalski is part of the IRP as the only Austrian Expert. In 2011 the Report “Decoupling natural resource use and environmental impacts from economic growth” was published, first authored by Marina Fischer-Kowalski and Mark Swilling. In 2015 and 2016 two other reports under the lead of Marina Fischer-Kowalski are published: the report „International Trade in Resources: A biophysical assessment“ was published in October 2015, and the report „Global Material Flows and Resource Productivity“ was published in summer 2016.

In the years 2016 to 2018, the following task are worked on:

  • Further development of the UNEP MFA database
  • Integration of MFA data in the periodic report of the IRP

Public presentation of the report on „International Trade in Resources“ and the report on „Global Material Flows and Resource Productivity“.
