Public Sector Leadership
Description:

While several decades of research on leadership in the private sector with different research foci,, and developments in leadership style practice have added to knowledge in the field, it has been argued that there was no ‘critical mass of scholarly work on public sector leadership’ (Kellerman and Webster 2001, p. 487). Scholars investigating public sector leadership therefore largely borrowed theories and concepts from the private sector although in the last years, more studies were pointing to the uniqueness of public leadership. However, as competing theories and conceptualizations prevail, the literature remains scattered and public sector leadership as a distinct and autonomous domain is still emerging.
