The aim of ENGAGE (Alps Adriatic Region) is to deepen knowledge in conflicting narratives and (dissonant) heritage of the past in select key areas, like education and socialization, media, popular culture, tourism, and politics. Building up on this, ENGAGE will research on dialogue in terms of interactive conflict resolution as instrument for dealing with the heritage of conflictive past in the Alps-Adriatic region – a microcosm in central and southeastern Europe that was the theatre of all major conflicts of the 20^th Century, from World War One and Two to the consequences of the Yugoslav War, still creating tensions on the interpretation of this past within and between countries of the region.
