Online Health-Related Information Seeking for Self and Family Members - Health Anxiety (by proxy) in the Digital Age
Beschreibung:

In recent years, searching for health-related information on the Internet has significantly increased globally. Parents, in particular, are challenged in their online search for diseases, symptoms, or treatments, as they are often not only seeking for themselves but also on behalf of their children. Earlier studies identified health anxiety as a key contributor to health behavior before, during and after the health-related online search. The differentiation of online health behavior for oneself and someone else offers opportunities to extend the contemporary understanding of health anxiety (by proxy) and maladaptive seeking behavior among parents and other caregivers. However, little is yet known about prevalence, associated factors, and appropriate assessment of health anxiety by proxy.
