Language Learning Strategies in Cooperative Open Learning (Arbeitstitel) | |

Language learning strategies have always influenced language learners in more or less obvious ways. Sometimes learners choose actions quite consciously and overtly, and at other times their behaviour may resemble a chain of automatic activities which appear to be happening unconsciously at first glance. Regardless of the degree of consciousness involved in choosing and applying strategies to support language learning processes or the use of a foreign language, the existence of language learning strategies cannot be denied and undoubtedly deserves the attention of researchers in the field. The case study outlined here aims to elaborate on which language learning strategies learners of English as a foreign language apply in a cooperative open learning environment. Furthermore, it is designed to inquire whether there are differences in the frequency and quality of language learning strategies used by high-level and low-level achievers. |
