Heterogeneity in Self-Organizing Network Synchronization
Description:

This project investigates self-organizing time synchronization in networked systems under consideration of different types of heterogeneity, as occurring in wireless communication networks. After obtaining a better understanding of the impact of heterogeneity on synchronization, we improve and design algorithms that cope with heterogeneity, and we assess them by means of simulation and rigorous mathematics. Finally, we implement results on a programmable hardware platform for wireless communications and test them over a real-world radio channel. The project should prolong international collaboration and further improve international visibility of Klagenfurt in a research area where visibility is already good.
