Matisse: Innovative tools and methods for Integrated Sustainability Assessment (ISA)
Description: | The objective of MATISSE was to achieve a step-wise advance in the science and application of Integrated Sustainability Assessment (ISA) by improving available tools and methods, by developing new tools, and by testing those tools with case studies on Agriculture and Land-use, resource use and dematerialisation, water use and environmental technologies. IFF Social Ecology was - as part of the core group - responsible for the overall coordination (20 partner institutions) and for the coordination of work package 8 in particular, which is supposed to extend and interlink existing models. Social Ecology also contributed with its HANPP approach (human appropriation of net primary production) to extend existing vegetation models and provide a link to IMAGE, in collaboration with the Potsdam Institute of Comate Impact Research and RIVM Amsterdam. Beyond this, it is coordinating, in collaboration with the Wuppertal Institute, the case studies on resource use and dematerialization.
