Title:	AlterNet - Netzwerk für langfristige ökologische Forschung
Description:	ALTER-Net ist ein langfristig angelegtes Forschungsnetzwerk zu den Themen Biodiversität, Ökosysteme und sozio-ökonomische Entwicklung, finanziert durch das 6. Rahmenprogramm der EU. Das Exzellenznetzwerk wurde im April 2004 gestartet und läuft 5 Jahre lang. Das Projekt zielt auf eine dauerhafte Integration von langfristiger Ökosystem-, Biodiversitäts- und sozioökonomischer Forschungskapazität auf europäischer Ebene ab. Es involviert 24 Partner aus 17 europäischen Ländern. ALTER-Net entwickelt integrierte Forschungsagendas für prioritäre Politikbereiche durch Workshops, Konferenzen, Austausch von ForscherInnen und gezielte Syntheseprojekte. Das Institut für Soziale Ökologie konzentriert sich im Rahmen von ALTER-Net auf Fragen der Integration sozio-ökonomischer Dimensionen in die sozial-ökologische Langzeitforschung (LTSER) und auf die sozio-ökonomischen drivers von Biodiversität. IFF-Soziale Ökologie ist Teil des Netzwerkes im Auftrag des Umweltbundesamtes (http://www.umweltbundesamt.at). Title:	ALTER-Net - A Long-Term Biodiversity, Ecosystem and Awareness Research Network
Description:	ALTER-Net - "A Long-Term Biodiversity, Ecosystem and Awareness Research Network" - is a Network of Excellence (NoE) funded by the EU's 6th Framework Programme. The NoE started in April 2004 and runs for 5 years. The project aims at durable integration of long-term ecosystem, biodiversity, and socio-economic research capacity at the European level. It involves 24 partners from 17 European countries. ALTER-Net develops integrated research agendas focussing on priority policy issues through workshops, conferences, exchange of researchers, and targeted synthesis projects. The Institute of Social Ecology focuses its efforts within ALTER-Net on socio-economic dimensions of long-term socio-ecological research (LTSER) and socio-economic drivers of biodiversity. IFF-Social Ecology is part of this NoE as subcontractor of the Austrian Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, see http://www.umweltbundesamt.at).
