Description: Dieses Projekt ist ein Folgeprojekt der vom World Resources Institute 1997 publizierten Studie "Resource Flows". In dieser Studie wurde der gesamte, jährliche Materialverbrauch von vier Industrienationen verglichen. Im vorliegenden Projekt wird die Outputseite des gesellschaftlichen Stoffwechsels, also Luftemissionen, Wasseremissionen und Abfälle, industrieller Ökonomien verglichen. Dies geschieht in einer methodisch harmonisierten Weise für Österreich, Deutschland, Japan, die Niederlande und die USA. Die Daten werden als Zeitreihe 1975 bis 1996 präsentiert, und nach "gateways" also nach Umweltmedien in die die Materialien abgegeben werden (Wasser, Luft, Land) gegliedert. Die Daten werden schließlich zu ökonomischen Größen und zur Bevölkerungsgröße in Beziehung gesetzt.

Description: This project is a follow-up to "resource flows" published by WRI in 1997 that compares material inputs to national economies across 4 countries. It documents the material outputs, that is emissions to air and water as well as wastes, in a methodologically comparable manner for Austria, Germany, Japan, Netherlands and USA, presenting the data in a time series 1975-1996 by emission gateway (air, water, land) and area of economic activity. Data are generated for each country by material input-output balancing tables. They are being related to economic activity and population size.
